What’s new in 5.2
They say a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and with our newest app update you can track them all. If you have a Fitbit, Jawbone UP, or one of the many other activity trackers that work with MyFitnessPal, you’ll be able to see your daily step progress right on your MyFitnessPal home screen, along with a daily calorie adjustment based on your activity level for that day. These features are free for all MyFitnessPal users, and we think you’re really going to like it.
If you’re lucky enough to have an iPhone 5S, we’ve got an extra treat for you: Using the M7 coprocessor found in the 5S, you can now automatically track your steps using just your iPhone. Already have a dedicated activity tracker that you enjoy using? You can choose exactly how you want to track your steps.
A couple of things iPhone 5S users should know about:
• Battery Life
Because we access the Motion Activity history from your phone’s M7 coprocessor only during the normal MyFitnessPal sync process, you should notice no additional impact on your battery life.
The steps feature only collects the number of steps you take per day from your iPhone, and does not receive any data about your location.
If you currently use a dedicated hardware tracker like a Fitbit or Jawbone UP, you might find the iPhone 5S step count can differ, especially for short periods of time. Over the course of a full day, your step data should be in line with what a dedicated hardware tracker reports.

Loving this app! They could make it a little easier to use (ex - how to delete items) but once you spend a little time with it you can figure things out. Love the pie chart at the end if the day that shows the % of fat, protein, & carbs you consumed. And the repertoire of restaurant food you can find in their calorie counter is excellent! My husband now uses it, too!

Recently joined the Y and My Fitness Pal was recommended by the trainer. Have been using it now for about 2 weeks and am dropping weight quickly. It's easy to use and understand. I eat out a lot and have been able to incorporate that into it. I recommend it for everyone to try.

I guess you could safely say I LOVE this app. It's very intuitive and well thought out. I was about to buy Cal Count (but it's $30/year....REALLY???!!!), Livestrong, etc. DON'T DO IT! You'll be very happy w/this gem. Thank you, MFP gang. This is a home run! Brilliant.

This app is fabulous! The main reason I never tried calorie counting before was because I cook a lot, but this makes it so easy, I use the recipe builder all the time to calculate my meals. I also like how I can get a breakdown of what I am consuming to much or too little of. This has seriously changed my mind about calorie counting.

This has transformed my eating tracking. I used to manually write down my habits and tally the calories and carbs at the end of the day. And I always abandoned that not too long after. This has to be the most comprehensive and most compatible app I have come across to track your fitness. I track my eating, my workouts, and my water hydration intake. It syncs with my other mapmy...apps and that's very nice.
When you want to keep track of every meal and calorie you eat, this is the app!!

Great app had helped me find more motivation for weight loss post baby. It makes it very EASY to track food consumption (which was one if my deterrents to weight loss - so much required to track amidst being a mom and a student). I LOVE the bar code scan feature!
I just wish that the recipe function worked better - great concept and awesome when it works but I've had trouble with it (again this makes my life harder b/c tracking becomes labor intensive). Also, wish there was a way to track more in Daily Notes section (vitamin intake, fruit/veg servings, diabetic carb servings, healthy oils, etc.) And my Kettlebell workout calorie burn.
That said, this is a great app - WAY better than the old Weight Watchers online tracking system I used a few years ago!!
