Description
Find My Friends allows you to easily locate your friends and family from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Install this free app on your device running iOS 5 or later and sign in with the Apple ID you use with iCloud. Adding a friend is easy — just send a request to see their location. Once your friend accepts using the Find My Friends app on their device, you will be able to see their location. And friends can request to see your location the same way.
If you prefer, you can also choose to share your location with a group of friends for a limited time.
Use Find My Friends to keep track of your traveling companions when you’re on vacation. Or to see if the kids are home from school. Or to meet up with friends for dinner.
If you’re running iOS 6, you can also set up location-based alerts — to notify you when your kids leave school or a family member arrives home safely — or have Find My Friends notify others about your location.
Find My Friends can send your current location to friends even when the application is in the background and has been optimized to avoid draining your battery.

My husband often takes day trips to go birding. This app gives us peace if mind that I can see where he is without worrying that he is stuck somewhere. My only issue is that he occasionally goes somewhere that loses a signal. Once the signal is lost, the app erases his last location and defers to a cannot locate message. A suggestion would be to have the option to store the last known location in case of signal loss due to coverage or low battery. Otherwise, the app is very accurate and easy to use.

For all of you out there complaining this App is useless for families sharing an Apple ID on different devices, you're right, this App is NOT for that. BUT it's not that Apple missed out on that. If you want to locate people using different devices, but all connected to one same Apple ID, that's what the "Find My iPhone" App is for… You download the app, login with the Apple ID everyone is using, and BAM! There you go, all your devices (family members) will be located on the map! And they will be listed with the devices name, so name each iPhone/device with the family member's name (Tom's iPhone / Jane's iPhone) and that's it! ;)

In order for this app to work, Apple really has to sort out their map system. I tried typing in a name of a bar near me to notify me when my friends get there and instead, it brought me to some random village in the Ukraine...

Sad...no longer matches up the photo and email and name from contacts.
Fixed it... Had to go into privacy and remove it from access and then go in to app...go back into privacy and add access...then it worked. One more star if it didn't need me to do this...

Apple,
This app is such a great functional app. However, the horrible stitched leather and over use of skeuomorphism is an absolute eyesore. I am rating this review based on the user interface and giving it a single star. If you were to improve and give the interface a more modern and clean aesthetic, my outlook on this app would completely change.

I use this app almost everyday to check up on my girlfriend when she's at school, and it locates her. But when it does locate her, the purple circle that shows up tells me that she's so far away that it confuses me: meaning that the circle is huge. It's a good app but bad accuracy, please fix this if you can because sometimes when I try to meet her, it tells me her purple circle locater is huge and can't get a fixed location. She also uses this app and it happens to her as well, if you guys can please fix this issue. It's a great app no doubt, but fix this and you guys get 5 stars, no strings attached. Keep up the good work. Please fix the location
