iTunes U 1.3 adds support for iOS 6. This version also provides:
• A new single day view to see all of your posts and assignments due on a particular day.
• Addresses an issue which prevented Closed Captioning from appearing when available.

iTunes U 1.2 now makes it easy to take notes while watching or listening to a lecture. This update also adds the ability to search within posts, assignments, notes, and materials — from any of your subscribed courses — using the improved Search feature in iTunes U. It is also now simple to share your favorite courses with friends using Twitter, Mail, and Messages.

Thank you so much Apple for this great app. I had issue with bookmarking classes and easily watching them. I was waiting for apple to add such feature to iTuneU, yet I was impressed by seeing a separate app very similar to the iBook which would enable subscribing to classes and watching them readily.
It works great!

This app seems great but there's one small problem, I don't know how to view the material! Whenever I select an ordered piece it gives me an outline, information on the instructor and a list of the course objectives. When I try to download videos or articles nothing really happens, what to do?!?!

It can't access my home shared courses on my iMac! How could this even have been released by Apple? Totally useless for me in its present form.
Stunned that they released this without support even though iTunes allows for it!

But the lecture videos load so slow! If you back up 30sec, loading starts over! I don't have all day to wait! That's why I DL the app! LOVE this, but please fix!!

I'm real studious, so it probably wouldn't be as great to some other person as it is to me... but I cherish this app. It is wonderful, because I am able to get ahead and prepared for a tough class or topic i a class. I'm so happy i found out about this no, I am using biology and chemistry courses to prepare me for my next year classes (AP Bio and honors chem). I am so excited to be able to just whip this out and study, it's so convenient. The only suggestion I have is a more extensive collection of ap biology courses. Also, a couple of them only have like, 3 lessons in them.. I don't think my AP biology class is going to only have 3 lessons, but nevertheless, this is the greatest app of all time. (I found a great introduction to chemistry one with like 100 videos!!)

I have to be IN the app to listen to whatever it is I'm playing. I just don't understand why app creators still program apps like this. Apple needs to fix this pile.

This is a brilliant idea. The only problem is, every time I open the app I feel like I am at a NASCAR event because it always crashes. I have never been able to use it. Is everyone at Apple still on vacation after the passing of Jobs?

In the past, this has worked fine. I hopped back on recently and it is too unstable on the iPad 1st gen when I try to browse catalog and other times when I try to subscribe to a course. It has the ability to be a fantastic app!

I haven't seemed to have any of the crash problems as mentioned in the other reviews so so far I'm loving the app. Everything's designed perfectly to seamlessly follow along with your courses. I love that you can look through course documents while the video plays in the background. The note taking ability is also very useful in being able to track where in the lecture you took the note so that you can go back and rewatch the video.
I suppose the overall experience is also limited on how well the actual course is, how well the production value is and finally how well it transfers over to the iTunes U format. I'm currently taking Stanford's iPhone and iPad Development course and they did an excellent job incorporating all of the course materials into the layout.
My only thought to make the app any better, which admittedly might be asking a lot, would be a feature similar to one in edX where you can set the video speed higher to something like 1.25x or 1.5x faster than real time. Otherwise very happy with the app.

Don't get me wrong, I love content and listen to iTunes U courses all the time. However, the app itself is broken. I have been trying to download a course, and after syncing my ipod 4 times it still isn't in the app. This isn't the first time this has happened either.

The app is fine, although I don't see the benefit of taking it out of the iTunes app. But doing so, and making it more like iBooks, is a real problem when you want to listen to certain casts in order. For meditation in particular or yoga it can be good to queue up several items and run them consecutively. But it is no longer possible to do so. That is a really big downside to this app when I see zero benefit to having stripped it out of the larger iTunes app in the first place.

I like the app, and I've had it for over a year. But all of a sudden I started getting a million notifications that new things were added to the classes I had in my bookshelf. Extremely annoying. I couldn't get them to stop so I finally deleted the app. I just reinstalled it and I hope it doesn't happen again.
