This app does not only send notifications to hey phone until I actually open the app, but it does not download the podcasts until the app is opened.

The app takes a bit to adjust the episodes to my liking. Needs to have a feature to set all the settings for the podcasts at one time. I listen to 45 different podcasts while traveling. App does not always update the downloads when they are availible. Apple can do much more with this app, but choose not to apparently.
Once again weirdness from the app (2.1.2)

I have a limited cellular data plan so I never want the app to download via cellular. The primary reason is apparent against today because I have it set to most recent two episodes for every podcast but this morning it appears to be downloading every single episode of all of my podcasts. My other number one complaint is that every single time I use the app a popup appears reminding me that cellular downloads are off and I have to ack it before I can do anything. I am exceptionally disappointed with this app and looking for a better one now. I would not recommend this app.

Update 5/17/14: Thanks a pant-load. Thanks to the update it added the most recent episode not on the device as unplayed for each podcast. I'm hoping if I re-sync with iTunes it syncs the "played" status from iTunes, rather than the update-garbled data from the device. Apple, please let 3rd parties access synced podcasts and data... All this time since you forced us out of Music, and you still keep screwing it up.
Update: Will not reliably download podcasts, and what, now no updates unless we update to iOS 7? I've had an iPhone since the 3G, but every time I take a 6-12 month old iPhone and update a full version number, it almost ruins the phone... New version optimized for new phone, with little if any care given performance to prior models that are not only still in service, but still being sold. iOS 3 killed performance on my 3G, iOS 5 borked the camera on my 4 (it can take 30 seconds or more from shutter button click to actually taking the pic). SUPPORT YOUR HARDWARE! You product is great when it's brand new... Crap in 6-12 month when you're only focused on the new pretty. Please please please fix this crap for us, or let third parties access the iTunes sync data. The team working on this app needs to be replaced... It's been garbage since it started. It's had some improvements, but seriously, you still can't download an mp3 reliably???
If I thought it would be a good product if the bugs were worked out, I might say, "good Alpha release", but since when does Apple ship Alpha's? No more making fun of Google for always being in Beta. I think the only thing I actually like vs Music is the skip-ahead button... Too bad the response of the buttons is hit or miss. Would it perhaps improve response if you turned off the ridiculous reel-to-reel animation? I'll take that option, please. Funny how you changed the speed indicator to a turtle and a rabbit. I was hoping for a little more control, but at least it's not lying to me anymore ("2x" in Music is only 1.5x). I wish someone important at Apple liked Podcasts... If someone who "got it" saw something like this released to customers, heads would roll.
Still garbage. Current worst bug: more than half the time... Perhaps 65-75% of the time I finish listening to a podcast, as in I listen to the endpoint, and playback stops on it's own, within a minute or two the "played" podcast will revert to partially played, with a minute remaining. I doubt anyone at Apple is paying attention to this... Or heads would roll over the un-Apple quality displayed in this crap, but just in case, I'm usually listening at 2x, if that helps debugging. I'd still prefer you allow third parties access to the iTunes sync, and kill this crap so we can move on... I have more faith that Apple can get really good at cloud services than I am that this app will ever be good enough for a second star.

This app has worked flawlessly for me. I have about 6 different podcasts I listen to frequently and this app downloads them and then plays the new audio every time. I have never had a problem. Not sure what everyone else is dealing with but download this app if you want to listen to podcasts.
Caused lost space -needed to restore (2.1.2)

Twice when using this app on different iOS devices (iPad 2 and iPhone 5S), deleting a podcast while podcasts were downloading caused "disk" space to go missing. I needed to restore both times to get the space back.
The interface of the app is fine and I like the way it syncs, but I'll never use it again because of the chance of needing to restore after using it.
I dread this becoming a built in app in iOS 8 because of that.

You'd think Apple could put together something with more user control. I usually listen before I sleep. Why do i have to set the timer EVERY freaking time? That is what preferences are for.

Why doesn't Apple take into consideration these reviews. Relatively, fixing the kind if problems this app has can't be that difficult.

Can you actually update the app and make it work proper?! It constantly stops mid-podcast. Also it skips the podcast that I'm listening to and goes to the newest one. This is ridiculous because with each update nothing is ever fixed!!!
Update: Podcasts DO NOT play! Fix it!!! The app has and one and half star rating. Get the hint APPLE an get it together. It doesn't even warrant one star!!!

I can't imagine what Apple was trying to fix with this new app, but it can't compare to the countless hours I have spent trying to get it to work as well as when podcasts were included in the music app.
Please update!!! (2.1.2)

Theirs no place on the app if u look through and individual podcast. Then click the cloud button to download it. Theirs no place for it to be stored. It needs to have its own download section. The download section that's their only shows ones u can download that are new. Not ones u have downloaded from the past. Please update. Please.......

I only write reviews when an app is incredible and I love it, or when it's so bad that I find it necessary to warn others. This podcast app from apple is a special, annoying kind of trash. It only downloads new podcasts when it feels like it, and deletes played ones only randomly even when I set it to delete ALL played episodes. I'm using an iPod, so this function is important to me. Also why the hell does it subscribe me to the 'Edward Daniels' and 'Power Players Radio' podcast ALL THE TIME. I unsubscribe and delete them everyday and they keep coming back! Please fix your app, Apple.
So bad that when I try to submit a review it fails (2.1.2)

All of the other negative reviews are spot on - crashing, forgetting position in files, not updated subscribed podcasts. Funny thing is that with each update the app gets worse not better.

Um, I can't even get to the point where I could write a review. The "subscribe" button doesn't do anything for me. Can't subscribe, can't listen to anything, simply doesn't work at all. I love my phone and all, but seriously Apple should be ashamed if this app.

I was using stitcher for a while but switched to this as my podcast app. The app works great. Just subscribe to the podcast of your choice and simply listen. It's simple to use and does what it's supposed to do. Ignore the 1 star reviews.

Is there any option to this app? The fact that Apple knew it was terrible, then did nothing to fix it, makes me want to delete it.

Not sure what all the fuss is about with this app*. If you don't want cloud syncing, turn it off. If you can't seem to get your podcasts to play in one of two basic ways - newest to oldest or oldest to newest - learn how to properly set up your feeds and stations. You can even get all of your Unplayed to play your podcasts in your order where each subscription will play oldest to newest before moving to the next subscribed podcast. This app is FABULOUS! It does everything I need and nothing more. Syncing works between my iPod, MacBook and all three of my Apple TVs since moving my iPod to *iOS 7. Thanks Apple for a great app! 😍
