Comments and Ratings for Snapseed
Not fond of album creation. (2.6)

Yeah I really don't like how the app creates an album of its own in my photos. It's just more clutter that I have to deal with because the pictures are in the camera roll already.
Yah, don't get this app (2.6)

Until it stopped working. Recently it processes changes up to 75% this shuts down and boots me out. I've tried everything; nothing works. Deleting it now and using PS Expess which I like less but at least it works.

Used to be my go to editor but it has not worked properly since the last update. It freezes and when you try to adjust levels, the image goes black and crashes. I hope they put out s bug fix asap.

Truly horrible (2.6)

Shrinks photos down so that they're too small to see to edit. Filters which used to work great now don't do much of anything. Hard to figure out navigation. Ths was a great app at one time. Now it's fairly useless.
Does not save files in hi-res, degrades image substantially (2.6)
6/26/2016 7:20:00 AM

The previous version did not add a frame, but subtracted the edge of your photo to make room for the frame. So much for careful cropping! Unfortunately, this edge-stealing method carries on in this version. Another major complaint has been the abysmally small file size at which edited images were being saved, causing useless jpegs with heavy image degradation, sometimes no larger than a ridiculous 800k, down from 10mb! Again, this practice continues in this version. I just converted a jpeg to be in Filterstorm, which retained the dimensions at 3264x4896 with a 5.9mb file size. The same bw conversion in Snapseed yields a 1.1mb file size and dimensions of 1280x1920 without any warning. Filterstorm lets you specify desired file sizes up to 22mb, but Snapseed has no pref settings. Snapseed used to be near pro quality a few versions ago, but that's no longer the case. Too bad, as it has some nice features.

Still missing noise reduction and color correction (2.6)

This is a pretty cool app, regardless of what I paid for it. There are only a couple of things it could really use to improve it.
Previously I noted that the app had no way of saving edits. This has been fixed and they now stack like layers, you can see them at any time by just opening the image again, and you can save them and apply them to different images!
The first missing thought is a noise reduction slider. A lot of the sliders enhance the image nicely (contrast, sharpening, ambiance, structure), but they all show the limitations in the dynamic range and poor ISO capabilities of these tiny sensor cameras. All adjustments rapidly introduce noise and I would really like some capability to smooth some of it over. I should add "well controlled" noise reduction. The "structure" slider appears to reduce noise, but often at the sake of all detail. More control is needed here, similar to what you can find in both Lightroom and Google's own Nik software.
The only other thing it is missing is color control. White balance adjustments don't cover the blue-yellow green-magenta shift aspects, and there is no way to desaturate a specific color. I frequently find skin tones poorly rendered on my iPhone and may need to pull excessive red or orange out of the picture. I have to go to other apps for that, and those apps are not nearly as good.
Best in its class, and previously I said "not designed by or for photographers", but I am happy to say this app is now designed FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS!
Nice improvement to a favorite app (2.6)

This is one of my top three photo editing apps. The new improved photo picker functionality is very handy, as I often edit multiple photos in a session. Thanks!
There are many highly useful features in this masterpiece including: HDR enhancement, healing, access to map location, Tune Image, update existing photos (without needed to make a copy), etc.
It's hard to believe this is a free app, with no ads, or other junk. I'd gladly pay for Snapseed if it ever became necessary.
A Must-Have App For All Serious Photographers (2.6)
6/22/2016 11:35:00 PM
5/5 By Paul in NJ
This is one of a very select number of apps that appear on my coveted front page. Its ability to smartly select areas for selective retouching is uncannily accurate; its Structure feature beats anything Photoshop can do; and its Ambience tool provides a wonderful combination of brightness, shadow opening, and warmth all at once. My one wish is that it would allow us to adjust more than just Brightness, Contrast, and Saturation in its Selective Tool. Still, I recommend this app without reservation.
Very nice (2.5)

This is by far the best editing app I've used, and I've been using it now for a few years! I've tried numerous others, but always come back to the simplicity and effectiveness of this one. The only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because a while back they removed the tone slider, I really would like to see them bring that back. Once that's back my rating will improve.

This is my go-to app when editing iPhone / iPad pics. There's a ton of great features that make it super easy to turn an ordinary picture into something extraordinary.
I'm looking forward to future enhancements. (Please)
Would love to see masking capabilities.

I've been using Snapseed for a long time, and I love the wide array of features and the ability to fine-tune each change. The only serious drawback is that it doesn't let you save a new edited picture, rather than overwriting the original. Unless I've missed that feature?
The new version has killed HDR (2.5)

I used to get stunning HDR photos with the original version, right up to 1.6. Version 2.0 HDR pales in comparison. I look back at my previous photos and see a huge difference with the processing I can do now. Please bring back the HDR setting from the previous version.

It has a great blur filter with customizations that allow you specifically select certain portions of the photo for blurring.
Along with very advanced features like selections tool.
Many options this app features are similar to Gimp or Photoshop. It's truly amazing that you can features like this for completely free.
Google knows what they are doing.

I love this app. It's so useful and I love how you can edit certain parts of the picture instead of the whole picture.
I wish you could fix the white balance though. Than this app would be perfect.

After using it more, I like this app more and more. And I'm pretty hesitant about free apps. It is full of features though, and doesn't bother you with ads or filter packs. It's better than many other photo editing apps I have used.

Best photo editor app with a small bug (2.5)

So far the best photo editor apo. As a film director, i often take behind the scene stills.
Just one small thing that is ennoying, should be fixed: the correction tool doesnt work properly. After fixing/erasing things on the photo, it looks fine in the app. After saving it to my phone, the correcting areas are not the same and it looks bad. Like some bad photoshop amateur retouched/corrected area. This should be fixed, so the users can properly use the app, and get the best result.
Actually this problem is pretty new, i didnt see this in older versions. (Im using the app for years now).

This is my go to photo app. All the controls are quick and easy to use and the results are fabulous! Thank you so much for being quick to fix the updated bugs😍.
For those out there looking to have just one app to do most everything you want to make your images pop, I can highly recommend Snapseed, you won't be disappointed.

I love the app and all the tools ot provides. I recommend it for the simplicity and powerful editing controls. I have a suggestion that will make it an even better app. My suggestion is to be able to save an edit in TIFF file format. Please consider this. Cheers!

I've gone through my fair share of photo-editing apps and this one is by far the best and most thorough. Hands down. It's free and comes with a ridiculously huge range of editing options. This app doesn't seem to be catered towards "quick and easy edits" but because of its extensive range of features, you can adjust your photos to pretty much whatever degree you desire. I personally find it more intuitive than programs such as photoshop, which come with little guidance and a hefty price tag. For a free photo editing app, you can't get any better than this.
Best iOS photo editor, period (2.5)

It's not absolutely perfect, but it is only a little bit away.
For a long time, I've been editing my photos in Snapseed before posting to Instagram or Facebook. It does a MUCH better job than Instagram's filters anyway, and now that Instagram has crammed their new timeline on users (for which, I deleted my IG account) I can just send to FB from Snapseed anyway. Love this app.
