Our hands were freezing. Our toes were freezing. Even our in-app GO departure times were freezing. So we went somewhere to thaw them all out.
INTRODUCING: Transit Release Notes, Louisiana edition.
That’s right y’all. Your Canadian compadres went south this winter. Deep south. Into the swamp. Into the humidity. Into the land formerly (but also contemporarily) known as New Orleans. For no other reason than to defrost our bugs, heat up our jokes and maybe catch some Mardi Gras beads along the way.
We prowled the streets of New Orleans. We rode the St. Charles streetcar. We stood fast on the neutral ground, drank bourbon on Bourbon and spoke French on Frenchman. We hit somebody in the face with a packet of beads but steadfastly maintain it was an “accident.”
As our weary eyes dilated, we noticed that the map view was wonky. Zooming in and out without your permission. What nonsense. We blew on the map like an N64 cartridge and are happy to report it’s now totally fine. And so are the issues with GO, which was draining more battery than it should have been, but now drains exactly as much battery as was intended all along.
Neighbors in Florida! Where y’at? Sunkissed (but beadless) we’ve rewarded your proximity to NOLA with 3 new transit lines: Votran (Daytona Beach), SunRail (Orlando) and the Delray Beach Trolley. Neighbors in NYC! Okay you are not our neighbors but we love you regardless. You’ve now got agency-provided real-time for the NQRW + BD lines, while we continue to crowdsource real-time for the remaining lettered lines in your big, beautiful, worm-ridden apple.
What else? You thought it was over? Oh no. Here at Transit New Orleans, we have one rule and one rule only: laissez les bug fix rouler.
-Fixed issues with VoiceOver accessibility (we now specify if a departure is in real-time)
-Fixed issues with saved locations (we now show them on the map, for easier trip planning)
-Fixed issues where release notes would never end (they now definitely do)
Rate us five stars because we tried to open a gator wrangling business while we were here and OH MY GOD IT’S ABOUT TO CHOMP OFF MY ELBO----

What’s up everybody time for some GO news!
For those of you who didn’t know already… we’re slowly rolling out real-time info in cities without it, using GO-powered crowdsourcing. We’re currently live in SF + NYC with very good results. For more info, check out our blog: medium.com/@transitapp
SF + NYC: Starting today you can distinguish between overlapping lines when using GO crowdsourcing. (Yes, like masters of innuendo, we can finally read between the lines.)
We also fixed some rare issues with GO where departure countdowns weren’t updating. We’ve mended GO’s broken heart and are happy to report he’s finally up-n'-dating again.
Oh yeah. More random fixes: was your map “zoom” accidentally resetting when you changed apps/directions? No longer. And for those asking why the “back” button was disappearing, it was being overused by people hoping to travel back to a time before 2017. We’ve increased our time-traveller capacity to better meet demand during these trying times. So welcome back, back.
Meanwhile in agency news…. We added real-time data for the Portland Streetcar and Prince George’s County TheBus, as well as service alerts for Dayton, OH.
We also added some missing cities and agencies... *clears throat* *takes a deep breath* …. say hello to: Transfort (Fort Collins, CO); IndyGo (Indianapolis, IN); CDTA (Albany, NY); The Las Vegas Monorail (Las Vegas, NV); and a bunch of agencies in the Raleigh Metro Area (GoRaleigh, GoDurham, GoTriangle, GoCary, Chapel Hill Transit, Duke Transit, and the NCSU Wolfline).
Okay we need a beer now.
Few last notes:
- Minor changes that improved app speed and reduce crashes
- Minor changes that subtly persuades your subconscious to rate us five stars
- okay just kidding about that last one but we’d really appreciate it if you did <3

Ooooooohweee. That was quite a holiday. Too much whiskey. Too much turkey. Too much Netflix. (And not enough chill.)
The holiday had its ups. But it had its downs, too: San Francisco’s agency real-time went down (and is still down on many lines!)
TRANSIT TO THE RESCUE: hours after the agency real-time tracker broke, we rolled out something special from our North Pole HQ: crowdsourced real-time data.
Citizens of the Silicon City are no longer deprived of their luscious real-time data. Now, riders are providing it themselves. Is your city deprived of (good) real-time data? We’ve got something special in store… stay tuned. For a sneak peak: medium.com/@transitapp
Beyond our Bay Area hijinks...
While our app was busy stuffing itself on holiday fare—some dastardly bugs took advantage of its sluggish, inflated state.
Well thank heavens for cleanses. Kombucha cleanse. Kale cleanse. Upside down hot yoga-and-SoulCycle cleanse. We're calling it the Bad Bougie Cleanse. And boy oh boy ain’t it effective.
Transit's insides are now as clean as a whistle. As sparkly as cider. And with fewer bugs than an exterminator’s flamethrower.
In other words—the bugs be gone. (At least the ones that we know of.)
So say hello to 2017. And Hello New Year’s resolutions: less whiskey, more GO, and flamethrowers galore.
Please rate us 5 shining bright stars (because kale can’t grow in the dark.)

Comments and Ratings for Transit • Real-Time App for Bus, Subway & Metro
The best. (4.1.4)

Aside from the fact that this app literally saved my life while trying to navigate the unreliable busses and trains of San Francisco, you should download it just to read the hilarious update descriptions! They make my day every time :)
Only Works 1% of the Time (4.1.4)

When it works, it is great. However I am standing outside in 12 degree weather and it has told me twice that a bus was here. Nope
Times are not exact needs updating especially on weekends (4.1.4)
3/11/2017 11:13:00 AM
2/5 By T- Banga
Regardless if the app is refreshed or not. Times are still wrong in certain areas. Sometimes it'll say the bus is coming or should be there in an appropriate time.
No bus has showed up. This is not an repetitive issue. Just certain bus stops will say different times and single digit weather is no excuse for a bus to say two different times and not show up at all

It works well and serves its purposes, but it often kicks me out of the app and bring me back to home screen for no reason at all.

Has all in one which I like, but not quite accurate you have to give it a 5-8 minutes window. But really well designed and easy to operate.
It's time estimations are always wrong (4.1.4)

I can't tell you how many times I've missed a bus and been late because this app tells me to leave for the bus stop in 15 minutes and when I get there it says I missed the bus and to wait another hour. The curb in front of my apartment building is the bus stop. The bus never came. How could I have missed it? This app is terrible.
Not accurate (4.1.4)

Sometimes it says the next train isn't for 44 minutes. Really unreliable
Worst application (4.1.4)

one of the worst application i have seen ever. I have seen from last 5 months it never shows proper timing in long island. when it shows 10 minutes to go then bus will come in 5 minutes there are lots of chances to miss the bus. Today (march 9, 2017) this application was showing me 3 buses to go at 15:53, 16:01 and 16:22 for 179 st subways Jamaica from lakeville road, new hyde park, ny. I decided to take 16:01 when i check at 15:55 it shows only one bus at 16:22. there no bus at 16:01. I went to grocery store cross the street and that (....) bus came at 15:59... anyone can check schedule of that bus.
Love it (4.1.4)

Misleading incorrect train schedule (4.1.4)
3/8/2017 9:51:00 PM
1/5 By Mjw285
Transit doesn't understand train closures. It told me to wait for a train that doesn't run on weekends, wasting an hour and a half of my time plus the cost of a wasted subway fare.
The maps are pretty, but the routing doesn't work.
release notes are full of gibberish — deleted it (4.1.4)

Didn't have info for my town anyway. High marks for supporting transit but low marks for abusing the reader, hence 3 stars.
Another failed real time location system. (4.1.4)

Why am I the only one providing real time data for lettered trains? Anytime I look up a train, I get "scheduled location"

This app does not give accurate time when either the bus or train comes.
Could be good (4.1.4)
3/7/2017 6:53:00 AM
2/5 By BostonHack12
if it had good data. Downloaded app while sitting at train station. App only shows train 807 in 50 minutes and not train 906 from stoughton that was coming in 10 minutes. Since it doesn't show schedule info you have to trust what this shows you, even when it's wrong.
Not very useful in NYC (4.1.4)
3/6/2017 8:25:00 AM
2/5 By TrixieRollo
This app has never given me accurate train arrivals times on any (subway) train in NYC. The bus times do match up to the bus schedules but the actual arrival times still varies. The app does look nice though.

This app needs to be updated , a lot of times the times are wrong or it says the A train is coming and the D would arrive
Great app but... (4.1.4)
3/6/2017 7:39:00 AM
4/5 By *emo kid*
This app works great to suit my needs. I love that it updates live rather than having to manually refresh the page and I also love the updates in case I need to take an alternative route to my destination. However, this app has a high tendency to crash, whether it's running in the background or if I have it open on my screen. Sometimes I don't even realize it until I'm getting close to my stop. Please look into this, I don't know if anyone else is having similar problems.
Best transportation app (4.1.4)

I use this app everyday. I get rush hour alerts re:delays. Know the subway times are usually off by about a min. Love that it has jersey bus/rail/path info

This app used to be my go to, now it's just inaccurate and frustrating to deal with. Giving me false hope that my bus is near.. pls fix the accuracy of it.
Like traveling with an NYC native! (4.1.4)

Thus app allows you to travel in NYC easily and confidently. Calculates walking times, knows the trains, routes, timetables, station platforms, and delays. Gives you all direction. You look and feel like you were born I the metro!
Very useful for local commuting and those who travel (4.1.4)
3/2/2017 8:34:00 PM

A friend suggested this app and it has been my go to app for commuting. I also travel often and it automatically loads new cities when I need them.
When San Francisco Muni had problems with real time data they activated crowd sourcing and it helped a lot.

Are all these reviews paid? Transit has never—NEVER—had an accurate bus prediction. I've yet to use this app and not watch the timer tick down to zero and no bus shows up. USELESS

5/5 By SarahBoBarah27
Been using this app for 2+ years over multiple cities and I cannot recommend it enough. The "estimated arrival" times are more accurate than what I've found in proprietary apps developed by the transit agencies themselves. I also like seeing where the train is on the line and that you can see how recent that data was sent. Fantastic app!

This app is by far my favorite. I've looked so long for an app that's so precise and it's this one . Never wrong and the GPS that shows transits in your area best feature hands down it has saved me many times . I know when to walk faster if I'm trying to be on time or if I can take my time . It definitely makes my life easier.
