Awesome Love 1Password (6.6)

I have been using this for years. Love this app. Works great with iOS app too Thanks 😎

I was ripped off (6.6)

I paid for the standalone version and a week later, it is now subscription based. Sure they say we are fine for now, but within a year standalone customers will be screwed. Total waste of money, contacting Apple today to get a refund….

How stupid Agilebits is! (6.6)

I paid $30 for the app, and now you think we have to stay with you so you can blackmail us. You just detroyed a good thing! Your app will now be at the bottom of the list. I only had 18 passwords saved, so it was easy to go back to my old way. Then I was smiling knowing I was not going to have to pay for this app for the rest of my life! Stupid Agilebits!

This is heart-breaking! (6.6)

This is the best Password app there is. I was an early adopter and love it. However, going subscription-based is foolish. Adobe is hemorrhaging customers to other products because of subscriptions. Essentially you are held hostage and have to pay FOR YOUR WHOLE LIFE or lose functionality. It is a terrible marketing idea and just plain greedy. $4 per month is $48 per year and in ten years that is $480 for a password manager! Give me a break. Please David Teare, don’t listen to the lunatics that proposed this idea. Either that or branch off a separate sister product that is subscription-based and prove it to yourself that people would rather own a license in perpetuity. I own more than 4500 apps and will never lock into a subscrption. I faithfully bought every version of Photoshop from version 2.0 over 25 years ago. Since Adobe has gone subscription I won’t use their products, not even Acrobat! Never, ever, EVER again. I am not alone in this. It is painful at first but is allows you to see how great other products are that take their place. It is just heart-breaking to have to find a new product to fill the void left by 1Password’s self-destruction. To the people who say that it is okay because we are grandfathered. Well, not if they go out of business because they can’t be profitable on 75 to 90 percent fewer new customers! There must have been a cost analysis to try to compensate for the inevitable losses and that is why the app has almost tripled in price! Oh, boy is this bad news.

More Options! (6.6)

This is a GREAT APP! People are freaking out over the subscritions, BUT THEY ARE NOT DROPPING THE LICENSES PEOPLE!!! The subscription model is just a new way of doing things… more options. If you currentlly have a license for it, you’re not being foreced to move to the subscription version. Chill out people, and enjoy this app. I highly recomond it. I’ve used it for years and it’s my favorite app.

Time to look elsewhere, I guess. (6.6)

It’s really unfortunate to see you guys further peddling your subscription service and making it very difficult to find the standalone license option by not giving it as a default option during on-boarding. It shows where your priorities are, despite the astroturfing of your PR team on the various tech forums. I will never pay a subscription fee for software, as I dont want to be held hostage with fees to access my data. Yes, you kept support around for those who had already bought it, and I have, but I honestly feel like time is ticking before you remove and replace this app with one that can only be accessed with a 1Password.com account. It may require a lot of work for me to switch to a new one, but after having used your password manager since v.2.8, I feel like it’s time to start finding an alternative.

Brilliant product; poor rollout on shift to subscription service (6.6)
3/3/2017 5:56:00 PM 5/5 By mawsonii
You could have done a better job of justifying your move to subscription service. Suggests a ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ corporate mentality. Look around. You have competitors who can and will pick up defecting 1PW users. It has been reported that something like 85% of corporations that have appeared on the Fortune 500 list since it was introduced in the 80s no longer exist. It is fair and reasonable to say that failing to cultivate a trusting and loyal customer base accounts for many corporate deaths. The desire to drive sports cars and live in palatial homes on the part of entrepreneurs and their investors can also account for many corporate deaths. I hope you folks are smart enough to create reasons for customers to want to remain loyal. In future, make a strong effort to get customer buy-in on your plans. Give us a reason to want to support your plans and your business. Customers are also stakeholders. You must have known that the subscription model would have been deeply unpopular. Suggestion: give long time users deep discounts on the subscription service starting off and until you convince us you are worth what you’re asking. Otherwise, I like the product and will continue to use it until you give me one more reason to say good-bye. Good luck.

Recent Upgrade Options (6.6)
3/3/2017 4:27:00 PM 1/5 By Baron Driver
I don’t blame Agilebits for changing their business model. However, the manner in which they did so is maddening. I have my Mac set to automatically upgrade apps so I had no idea that 1Password was being upgraded and with a requirement that I pay in order to get out of “Read Only Mode”. This is not the way a company should treat it’s customers. I have had to spend time today trying to figure out what happened for the app to lose its functionality. I would have prefered the option to keep things as they are or take advantage of a new business model. I want to make that decision, not Agilebits. I would have looked into the cost prior to making a decision. The methodology that Agilebits used was to force a paymet or lose critical functionality. This is NOT A GOOD WAY TO DO BUSINESS. By the way, I received absolutely no communication from Agilebits prior to the upgrade or after.

Greedy (6.6)
3/3/2017 12:18:00 PM 1/5 By Zheng-Yu YANG
1Password is NOT caring about users, but only about MONEY. If they really care, why not sell new features as one-time-purachse in-app purchase? Because they DON’T HAVE NEW FEATURES and they JUST WANT MONEY from us. PERIOD.

Was great once….. (6.6)
3/3/2017 9:18:00 AM 1/5 By Connacht
This has become a terrible, terrible product!!! On top of the fact that they consistently “upgrade” it and require you to re-purchase the product, They make it so incredibly difficult to login to your account to recover necessary information in order to repair the product when its broken! I now no longer have access to all of my saved passwords and will have to start fresh with a new service.
