best app ever (6.10)

best app I have used for daily record.

Deceptive "Upgrade" (6.10)
12/29/2016 3:47:00 PM 1/5 By PCEI
Since I had upgraded my iMac to Sierra, I decided to upgrade Evernote as well. Their description of the upgrade says that there are important under the hood changes which lay the groundwork for future improvements. It appears that one of the more important changes is that you can only use it for free on 2 devices, which oddly wasn't mentioned in "what's new". Since I only occassionally use it on the Mac, it frankly isn't worth $35 per year to keep it, so the "upgrade" essentially disabled Evernote. I have no issue with the company trying to generate revenue, but it would be a bit more professional to be up-front about it.

One of my most important business tools (6.10)
12/27/2016 5:23:00 AM 5/5 By TeddyBurriss
I use Evernote every day on four different devices because it is both easy to use and filled with the features I need in my business. I use Evernote when I do my coaching because I like to share my notes after each session. I use Evernote to prepare my pubilc speaking outlines because it’s an easy to use editor. I am using Evernote again to write my next book because I use notes as chapters and can move them around as needed. I export all of the notes in the notebook as a document to my editor to clean it all up. I love that I can start a note on one device and nearly immediately go to another device and keep working on it. I love that I don’t need to worry about having to order extra space with the my premium membership I get plenty of space for what I do. Evernote is one of my most important business tools.

Best notetaking software out there (6.10)
12/19/2016 8:40:00 PM 5/5 By BriVester
I’ve been using Evernote for a long time before I switched to Mac. I find it to be the best way to organize notes. There is a lot of paragraph formatting, image and video attachments, and a lot of customization. It’s great to see what can be done with this free application. My only complaint is that I thought the latest version for Windows looked rather plain, but the Mac version looks great. Now that I’m on Mac now, I don’t need to worry about Windows.

Your notes are not private (6.10)

Evernote employees have the ability to access your notes. Do not store personal information, bank account records, account numbers, in evernote.

Microsoft OneNote is much better (6.10)
12/14/2016 4:23:00 PM 1/5 By Hey Buddies
So glad Evernote started charging for its product! I have supported Evernote since it’s launch, and didn’t even look into another solution until I learned I’d have to start payinf for services I have received for free for so long. It turns out that once you learn how to use Microsoft OneNote, it’s far superior. The crome clipping add-on is top notch. Don’t waste your time with Google Keep.

Where’d multiple windows go? (6.10)
12/14/2016 10:03:00 AM 3/5 By kilgore_trout z
I use Evernote to organize all of my research and writing for my dissertation – as such, Evernote has been my lifeline for years. There are so many things that are great about it, but a few updates ago they took away the easy ability to have more than one window (note) open at once. While you can select multiple notes and option-click to “open notes in a new window” this solution is frequently buggy and either blacks out the entire screen or erases the text in one of the notes. Please bring this feature back!

use it constantly (6.10)

Long time user and subscriber. Its versatility and responsiveness is great. Great help in my work.

Best note taker out there - but almost hopeless as a task manager (6.10)
12/11/2016 12:15:00 PM 3/5 By Uncleschnell
I’m mixing note taker and information achives together with task manager - because it’s really the same thing. It’s all about information you collect, organize, put in folders and then tag. Then act on it: due dates, comment on it, assign to someone. Right now the task management system seems a decade old!! A simple list and even a terrible one to look at: I see the items that are due, and then see the very same notes down underneath. Come on guys! Do I really have to resort to a Todoist or Wunderlist as a task manager when I should be able to do so much more right in here! - I guess so for now And a commenting system DOES NOT EXIST. Work Chat is miserable, sorry but it is. Is there an indication (icon, anything) when I’m looking at a note that that note has been shared? No. I have to send on Work Chat and then, and only then do I see that note is shared (if I scroll down the list, or go into “see note sharing” in a query of all shared notes. And that conversation in Work Chat is a whole bunch of stuff that could be about anything. I just want comments to be about the note, IN THE NOTE ITSELF. Esssentially I ignore Work Chat - it’s absolutely useless to me. I would love to see where I can share notes and assign these notes to someone and then we can comment on these notes and tasks togehter - in a visually simplified interface. I have been one of your earliest users (first of 200,000 users) and I will stick to your platform because it’s the best but it badly needs a new UI and new functionality.

Great tools to manage my notes (6.10)

Easy to manage my scripts and notes. Its become one of the mandatory tool from mefor day to day work.

was using Neat Desk (6.10)
12/6/2016 12:39:00 PM 5/5 By SteveReina
I was using the Neat Desk Scanner and software.. But when NeatDesk decided to NOT support the software anymore, I switched over to Evernote;. I purchased a IX500 scanner (waiting for it to arrive) and sold my Neatdesk system. So far, I really like the Evernote app. It just seems to work.

Much More Than A Notetaking App-Updated Review (6.10)
12/5/2016 1:00:00 AM 5/5 By Foucault's Archive
I continue to be a happy user of Evernote. Reported concerns about its interaction with OS X Sierra are unfounded in my experience. I’ve had no problems with annotating PDFs or any of the other issues a few recent reviewers have mentioned. I’m running a late-model 27 inch iMac with a Core i7 processor and 32 GB of memory as well as a 1 GB SSD drive. As an essayist and occasional writer of academic papers I find Evernote Premium to be my go to program. I use Evernote for almost all of my data collecting, ranging from webpage clippings, and screenshots to articles and books in PDF format. The only time it makes me take an extra step is in the scanning. I don’t own a SnapScan, which is the only model directly supported by Evernote. Most of my scans are of photographs, many of which are old and fragile. Hence, I prefer a high resolution flatbed scanner, and Evernote still cannot directly link to it. Of course, I can import images after scanning, but it would be nice to be able to skip that step. My only other current wish is for direct import of Page documents. I understand that Page documents provide a real challenge, due to the complexity of formatting. I’d be happy to have such an important future even if it meant loss of some formatting or conversion to a.txt file. Again, this would just save me the steps of opening a document and copying and pasting into Evernote. These two desires concerning features should not prevent any one from considering Evernote. As a note taking, data collection, and data organiser it is largely unsurpassed. For purely academic work there are programs like Papers that offer direct database access and citation handling, but for the general essayists, writer or business user Evernote is at the top of the heap. ------------------------------- Calling this a note taking app is like calling an iPhone the modern version of the telegraph, it may be true, but it doesn’t begin to cover the ground. As a writer and blogger it is my primary research and writing tool, whether it’s storing a paper from the web in captured HTML or storing, searching and annotating a PDF or MS Doc. I use the free webclipper extension for Chrome (and other browsers) to put found news and research items in one of the twenty or so research project note books I have going at any one time. Want a full screen shot or to capture a map image from Google or MS? It’s right there in a free tool bar gadget, or record a voice feed the same way. I don’t remember the last time I opened Grab. I bought the annual premium plan after using the app for only a few weeks, this adds 10 GB of new uploads each month, access to notes while offline, searching in Office docs & attachments, the ability to turn notes into presentations, clip from anywhere on the web, sharing and discussing notes in Evernote Sync across phones and computers, scanning and digitizinjg business cards, passcode lock on mobile apps anjd even the ability to automatically view net content related to your notes and the ability to annotate attached PDF. Finally, and vitally, I can save emails istraight into Evernote. My note pads are literally bursting with thousands of notes, pdf ranging from forms to book length, all synced completely and seamlessly with my iPad and phone. The notes are easy to dump into one of the blogs I write for, and it does all the formatting I ask for, save 1 thing. I want real footnoting, that way I’d never have to open Pages or Word again. I should also mention, as a Dragon user (which is still two steps ahead of the tech it gave to Apple for voice to text transcription), that it works perfectly with Evernote. Finally., it is frequently updated and their reputation for customer service is sterling. I ask a beta tester for Apple system software on both my primary office Mac and my iPad, and have never experienced a hiccup of any kind with Evernote - even digesting multiple multi-megabyte pdfs (something that will crash iTune or iBookss) leaves Evernote unfazed and ready to go.

Used to love it (6.10)
12/4/2016 9:26:00 AM 2/5 By 57U
I used to love Evernote. The “new” pricing structure just drives me away. For $45 one could have a great app that worked and it was very helpful to have. I find it most objectionable not to be able to connect all your devices but even if you pay the now lower rate, you miss usability. You get now for $70 what you got before for $45. Who are we kidding? We have been asking for page numbers on docs forever, simple proposition but it is still not there. I am leaving for one but I really dislike the current state of affairs. It is not worth it any more. I also wanted to get a deal with Evernote for college student education but they just blew me off. Done with you Evernote - no deals from you, no deals from me.

working great (6.10)
12/3/2016 9:15:00 AM 5/5 By TarekHoteit
suggestions: - allow notebook covers to be colored - allow option in creating a note to add a text block with color highlighting option - markdown support would be excellent - allow VIM editing

can’t wait for this new foundation (6.10)
11/26/2016 5:19:00 PM 3/5 By jingai
i hope one of the upcoming “new” features is - change case? i mean, still missing basic type manipulation features. not to beat a dead horse into the ground; but, get the basics right, please! however, glad to see the “jumping” cursor has been fixed. but, how about - search and replace? i mean… even TextEdit does that! and, you’re on version 6? hmm… (btw, search highlights random places on the screen, at the moment - not actual words!). also, improve cut and paste - paste from PDF copy of text looses the returns (now, i copy from pdf, paste into git atom, then copy that and paste into Evernote…. Ugh) don’t need a fixed title because it’s always visible in the snippit, or any of the other views. started using evernote for to-do lists (as apple reminders is fail-ware). the behaviors of things when i cut and paste checkmarks in lists, or make a new line - hard to describe, but the UX is really “wonky.” highly inelegant. i’ve said it before, but as a note app - the typing experience needs to be free-flowing bliss. all these other bells and whistles - distractions from what this app needs to be. 80/20 rule and all that. you can do it! also, driving me nuts sometimes - if i paste a link, then want to type normal text next to it, it just keeps extending the link instead. please, fix! also… update the screenshots! hello? is this thing on? anyone there?

Crashes everytime (6.10)

a great app, today it has no alternatives

Mac Version Now Useless (6.10)
11/22/2016 12:05:00 AM 2/5 By fwoom
The Mac version of the app used to be great, but now it doesn’t seem to work at all. I can’t clip and save anything. I was once considering purchasing a premium subscription, but now there’s absolutely no chance of that happening. It’s unreal how such a simple thing is completely broken in the newer version. This is one reason why I never, ever update apps. I wish I wouldn’t have installed the latest updates to this one. It would probably still work.

Major decline of the Mac app (6.10)
11/16/2016 1:37:00 PM 3/5 By Dale Niño
I have been using Evernote for years, and all along I was a vocal advocate for this app. I recommend it to friends all the time. For me, PDF annotation, the search functionality, and organizational tools are all indispensable features. I rely so heavily on Evernote on my Mac and on my phone for school, work, and my personal notes because it is so robust and reliable. Unfortunately Evernote for Mac has violated that reliability over the last few months. First PDF annotation became slower and somewhat buggy. When MacOS Sierra launched, PDF annotation stopped functioning completely, and in general the Mac app has multiple difficulties handling embedded PDFs now. Text input has also become extremely frustrating — Evernote frequently adds extra return lines while I’m working with bulletted lists, and randomly becomes unable to format text unless I relaunch the app. Overall, my experience with EN for Mac has gone from outstanding to extremely frustrating in just a few months. I’ve worked with tech support in depth on these issues back in September, and ultimately they just told me they had no fix and that they were working on it. I’m afraid that the change of leadership at Evernote is having a negative effect—I hope it turns around soon!

Great potential, not so good execution (6.10)
11/14/2016 3:08:00 PM 2/5 By cbrynt
The sync never works right. It delays and creates “conflicting” files. If Google docs can sync live, I don’t know why they can’t. The syncing creates lots of frustrations for me. Hoping a better alternative shows up soon, or that they fix it. Otherwise it would be a great app. KEEPS CRASHING (11-14-16)

Awesome! (6.10)
11/13/2016 7:01:00 AM 5/5 By Viceroyx.
I have been using the free version for years now and its still amazing. I do hope that there is a “Dark Theme” down the pipe.

Used To Be Great (6.10)
11/10/2016 9:08:00 AM 3/5 By chrisalley
More and more I’m considering not renewing my premium subscription. This app used to be great. It’s become very buggy recently. Annotating documents (on both Mac and iOS) used to be quick and easy. Now it’s so difficult and clunky. Multiple times while I’m annotating a document on the Mac version the app crashes. I hope Evernote focuses on making the features that already exist work well/better before they continue to add more features.

App is Broken Even More Now (6.10)
11/6/2016 5:30:00 AM 1/5 By NoNickname123456789
Add a space to a title, start typing and the space is removed!? Obviously testing is lacking Does not allow you to log out automatically Need to find that option in the menu Obviously security is lacking

New update made it worse (6.10)
11/5/2016 12:56:00 PM 1/5 By Cjgsrksjetnb
I used the annotation feature to make notes on downloaded PDFs on yesterday— worked great. Today, I downloaded the update and now everytime I try to annotate a PDF, the app freezes and I have to force quit to even get out of it.

What happened to my data wherever I want it ? (6.10)
11/2/2016 11:35:00 PM 1/5 By Jack Linguini
Been using Evernote for years. Recently they made changes to usage so I can only use it on 2 devices unless I want to pay a fee. I don’t. I’ve used it for years for sharing notes across computers. I use a laptop a desktop an iphone and iPad. Had to decide to only use it on my laptop and iphone. I’m thinking about migrating to one-note. thanks Evernote. Oh and BTW. Thanks Evenote for stopping development on Skitch. Another good product you are ruining for your users.

Best note taking app (6.10)

I have been using it for years, creating notebooks and notes for my daily needs while always having them on the go.

Money Hungry Evernote Restricts You Now (6.9.2)
10/28/2016 8:10:00 AM 1/5 By Qroyce
All the good this app does is overshadowed by the new policy Evernote has that you can only access Evernote on two devices for free now. I’ve been using Evernote for years and the basic version always allowed you to access Evernote on whatever computer you are using. They want you to upgrade to use basic functionality now and that is unfortunate. For that, they get 1 star.

Getting disappointed (6.9.2)
10/27/2016 11:24:00 PM 4/5 By traveliing girl
I have been singing the praises for Evernote ever since I signed up. a perfect place to gather all my important papers in one place with security. NOW…..Pop ups!! I cannot use my screen as a pop up appears and does not let me x it out. I have tried 4 times and had to escape each time, not getting to use the page I wanted. I do have the premium but that does not seem to matter. I am really feeling conned if they need to resort to forced advertising at thsi level .

Evernote Changed the Way I Work More Than Any App. Ever. (6.9.2)
10/26/2016 5:13:00 PM 5/5 By Lemonslaw
I have 33 years computing experience across multple platforms and operating systems; through more programs, utilities and apps than I literally can count. None have affected how I work to the extent Evernote has. Evernote is now the center of my personal and business universe. It is intuitive; efficient; alwsys available; and, oganized intuitively to keep you on top of whatever project you may be involved with. I just mess around with it for about a year without investing much time when I noticed that Evernote is what I kept coming back to - whether for research; case file organization; segregating favorite photographs; keeping income statments and receipts readily at hand - once you realize that Evernote keeps you on top of EVERYTHING, you will not keep fooling around with anything else. Evernote does not overwhelm you with features, it has the features that you actually need; but, most of all, that you will use. The time it takes me to find things I need has been cut by a factor of 5x. Evernote even keeps you up with current topics that relate to what you are workng on! It is the only app I can remember that I have not been frustrated with or disappointed in and it is the one app that I would not give up. I guess you could describe it as the Goldilocks app - it doesnt have too much or too little - it is just right.
