After upgrading Mac to Sierra, I see iRealPro constantly starting in an endless loop. It was working OK on El Capitan. Please fix or provide solution

Too Simple For The Early Intermediate Through Advanced Musician (6.3)
12/25/2015 10:25:00 PM 1/5 By ShadwMster
The application is useful for people who use chord progressions consisting entirely of single beats. Rhythmic subdivisions (half a beat, a quarter of a beat) used to only be possible by inserting ‘special characters’. Apparently, that now is also impossible, as it seems one can insert any symbol whatsoever except musical notation. For example, I was attempting to build a chord progression in 4/4 starting with a quarter rest followed an eighth note (chord), a quarter note, another eighth note, and then another quarter note. Basic syncopated rhythms like that are impossible with this software; thus I could not in good conscience recommend it to any musician beyond their first 3-6 months of practice.

Great Practice Tool (6.3)

Ive been using this app for a couple years now. I use it almost daily for practicing Jazz Standards on guitar. Its so much fun to have a “band” behind you - its not quite the real thing but a good substitute when you dont have a bassist, drummer and pianist hanging around the house. I have tried a number of other expensive programs but for the money and the features you cant beeat this program. One thing I would love to see added is the ability to create/modify your own guitar chord voicings. I play gypsy jazz and often the chord voicings are not so modern and having the ability to tweak the current voicings would be awesome. Other than that I dont have any complaints (not really a complaint so much a desired enhancement).

An essential tool for any musician (6.3)

This is nearly the greatest practice app ever made. I bought the desktop version. Move over Jamey Aebersold, at least a little bit (can't beat the real thing, especially if it's Ron Carter or someone). But for $20, this is a steal! The flexibilty of it is incredible - change the tempo, key, time signature, yeah that's basic stuff, but the ability to change to so many different styles and then customize each is fantastic. The mixer is key (although I wish there was a guitar comping option), but pull the bass back and practice your bass solos. The comping is great too, it's not the same rhythm each bar and they have some formula to randomize it, I guess, it's really neat. Creating your own song is a bit clunky. The editing window is kind of narrow, until your Save and it goes to half screen size. The input of chords is simple (although you have to follow their guidelines - D-7, not Dm7, or D-7b5 not D-7(b5)). But inputing them will get easier and be quick, I'm sure. I will wish you could type the tempo in, instead of have to use the slider in 5 bpm increments. I can't wait to try the MIDI export options into my DAW and other features, how about the thousands of other songs in the forums?, but after 10 minutes, I'm blown away! Get it.

Great tool for making fake-book style charts (6.3)

I really like the ability to edit on my laptop and then quickly share charts with rest of band via email or Dropbox. Tech support from Technimo is super too.

Steep learning curve (6.3)

The program is okay once you figure it out, but it’s far from intuitive. Also, it wasn’t clear to me before beginning that it’s substantially dependent on input from other users. For this particular musician, there are better applications.

Superb tech support (6.1)

After not being able to get a simple function to work, I emailed iRealPro support. I got quick response, and was not scolded for being stupid, which I was. This app is incredibly useful for teaching, learning and rehearsal. Wish I would have gotten it sooner.

Music App With Best Value (6.1)
4/8/2015 9:56:00 PM 5/5 By Just Another Critc
iReal Pro is one of the best valued music apps available from the App Store. It is essentially “Band In A Box” for less than 15% its cost. I’m using it as an analysis tool by improvising different mode scales over various jazz chords and determining which particular mode fits best with the chord progression being played in the iReal Pro App. It’s also works well for improving or learning new rhythm styles, progression recognition, and for those of us that don’t have the ability to here a composition in our heads, it gives you that ability by allowing you to program different music theory concepts into the app and then listen to how they interact during playback. There is also a forum provided that has several thousand songs available, in different genres for free download. I was also surprised when I needed support, because usually for me, getting competent or sometimes any support is a rare occurrence, so when the support department quickly replied to my issue, found the problem and then quickly fixed it, I must say that I was pretty impressed.

The best app for musicians. Period. (6.0.1)

It was the best and only thing like it before, and it is now. Thanks for the update, keep it up!! This app is still the most compelling reason to have an iPad.
