Every time you move a content from one app to the other, compare data side by side or multitask in any other way, you need all the windows arranged accordingly. Magnet makes this process clean and simple.
In one drag to the edge, you size a window into half of your screen. And by dragging windows to the corners, you snap them into quarters. Slide them to the bottom edge of your display to create thirds. Taking advantage of such arrangements eliminates app switching and greatly enhances workspace efficiency.
Magnet supports keyboard shortcuts as well, for every command it has to offer. There is that little icon sitting in the Menu Bar where you can find a predefined set or create yours.
・Left/Right/Top/Bottom Halves of the screen supported
・Left/Center/Right Thirds of the screen supported
・Left Two Thirds & Right Two Thirds of the screen supported
・Fullscreen & all four Quarters of the screen supported
・Activated by dragging (optional)
・Activated by keyboard shortcuts (customizable)
・Operated via Menu Bar icon
・Runs both on Retina and regular displays
・Up to six external displays supported
・Built to run on all macOS versions since 10.9 Mavericks
・macOS 10.12 Sierra optimized

Doesn’t Work With Apps of Most Importance (1.10)

This is great if you want to “snap” your Finder window to the side, but it does absolutely nothing for Word or Excel — you know, where you might have files you need to view side by side. Completely uselss and waste of money.
Window Management like Windows (1.10)

As a long time Windows user, this is necessary. I still use Windows outside of work, so when I use my Mac I just natrually want to snap windows the way this app allows. I used Divvy, the old standard, for quite some time but that requires keyboard shortcuts and has no mouse support. This, on the other hand, is super intuitive. I’m surprised that Apple hasn’t built this sort of functionality into macOS, but they haven’t, so seriously. Pay for this app.
Great productivity boost, with some caveats (1.10)

I love this program, it really makes it easy to organize all my open windows extremely quickly. If you’ve ever used a windows machine and enjoy the “snap” feature, this is the closest you can come on a mac, and its excellent. The only issue, and its not really one with the program, is that if your involved in anything to do with graphic design or editing and use primarily Adobe products, know that all fo the programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator etc.) are “immune” to the powers of this app. If that is not a deal breaker (it certainly isn’t for me) then you shouldnt even hesitate. Get this program, you will love it.

I use 3 OSes (OSX, GNU/Linux, Windows) on a daily basis. OSX does a great job on implementing the multi-desktop feature. However, OSX does not do a great job of managing windows on a single desktop. This app fixes that by including functionalities which I believe should be a part of the OS itself.
Works perfectly. Switched from Cinch. (1.10)

I used to have a PC, and I loved the fact that you could drag windows to make a split screen. When I first switched to a Mac, I used Cinch, but Magnet gives you more options in regards to window layout. Works really well, i barely notice it. I have yet to use the keyboard commands. OH! Also, for some reason it doesn’t work for Adobe apps like Photoshop (those apps wouldn’t cooperate with Cinch either).

This is great app. Worth the price! It does a great job offering both keyboard shortcuts or a clean, minimal icon in the menu bar. Saves me so much time by organizing windows effortlessly.

To Begin, I just happened to search for something that would help me snap my windows to the left or right of my screen when I needed space to work. I produce and curate lots of music, and with all the screen I use as workspace. I go tired of resizing and dragging, which to be honest, is a waste. I have to say that this utility makes my life 100% better. Now I use it on both my MacBook Pros. Thanks and keep up the good work guys.

This is an awesome application, and it fills just about every need I could possibly have for a window multitasking tool, with one catch. I am not sure how feasible this is, but I am a graphics designer that heavily relies on Adobe Creative Cloud applications. My hope, nay, my dream is to one day see this tool work compatibly with apps like Photoshop, InDesign & Dreamweaver. Ahh, what a beautiful world that might be, designing on a machine with symetrical windows... but perhaps I am wishing for too much. Honestly, so long as you aren’t using a to external applications (apps not native to the App Store) Magnet is worth every single cent and more. Don’t sit there any longer, just get it!

Not much more to say here, its just a great app with great features that are great for multitasking. Very good for following a tutorial with youtube on one side and the application your working with on the other side. Would recommend. Worth the dollar. (honestly I think its worth 2 dollars+)

I have been using Apple products for longer then I can remember. Parallel to that I have had a PC as a personal computer as I enjoy gaming from time-to-time. That said, I ALWAYS missed the functionality that Windows provides in regards to intuitively letting me view mutlipul things in a way that utilizies the screen revenue.
This is better then Windows. It gives a bunch of different options of how you want the windows to be organized/sized and has become the most useful app to date that I have purchased. Honestly, if your time clicking/dragging for hours does not outway the $.99 they are asking for, then you really shouldn’t be browsing the app store, you should be looking for a new job.

I have BetterTouchTool which has been great, but I wasn’t happy with it so I looked for an alternative. Magnet wasn’t it. I thought it would have the “click to fill second half of screen” function that was added in Windows 10. For now, it’s okay and if you don’t have BTT it’s just as nice, but I’m eagerly waiting for the W10 feature!

One of the most productive and neat features of newer Windows versions is the window clipping ability. It is basically identical to what this app does, and is super useful when using a large display. To keep this short: If you are coming from a Windows PC and are still used to/miss the whole window clipping function, buy this app while it’s still .99 cents! It’s super easy to fullscreen an app quickly or put two apps side by side and Mac OS X never had this feature but luckily this app exists and it makes it easy as pie to multitask with multiple windows sized evenly around your screen!
5/5 Highly recommended to boost multitasking and productivity.

In 2009 I bought an iMac. It was my first. By 2014 it was getting a bit long in the tooth and I bought a machine running Windows 8.1 Pro. This summer I switched back to an iMac. The thing about El Capitan that I found extremely frustrating was the way full screen mode and split screen mode worked. I liked the Windows 8.1 model much better. Windows 8.1 works a lot like Manget does, but Magnet has additional very useful function. I have now stopped pulling my hair out in frustration.
I love this app. I have also installed it on my wife’s iMac and eve though she hasn’t used a version of Windows since XP, she too really likes the function Magnet provides.

I like this app. I find it a satisfactory cross of Moom and Spectacle. And its extremely cheap. You do miss someof those apps power features. But at the same time, Im not trying to spend all day learning how to do advanced window management that I will only use in a few circumstances. This app gets thejob done, so I may get my work done.

I’ve found this to be a useful app. Be careful you don’t push a window to the very top with too much “push” - that’s what makes it go to full-screen, and if you didn’t intend that, it can be annoying. But it takes almost no effort to get it back to window-size (just a tiny grab/wiggle), so that is an excellent feature. I’m glad I bought this.
Mostly great, a few bugs (1.10)

The app mostly works great and behaves as expected. There is an issue I notice sometimes when trying to snap to the top of the screen to make the window full-screen. The window will get stuck with the shadow overlay still displayed after releasing the mouse button. The window will correct itself after trying to drag the window around again. While it is only a minor inconvenience, this issue occurs frequently.
Perfect Companion For Large Displays (1.10)

This app is a great companion for those with large displays. I have a 34" widescreen display at work and the option to snap to quarters of the screen is SUPER useful.
As displays get larger and larger, I would like to see Magnet support more than just quarters. For example, since there is so much horizontal real estate on widescreen displays, I think sixths (two rows, three columns) would be perfect. But overall, I've had zero problems with this app and use its features pretty much everytime I use my computer. Five stars, for sure!
I guess i just hit my 1,170th “snap” so I was prompted to review. (1.10)

I am addicted to shifting windows around now with Magnet! I had seen something similar but didn’t get it and I got it on sale 80% off so I thought it’s at least worth a dollar. I was wrong. If I had known, I would have paid full price. It just makes typing, viewing photos, documents, etc that much faster and easier.
I especially love the keyboard shortcuts which make it so much easier to move things around the screen super quickly. Tip: the funny and ^ on the shortcuts are actually “control” and “option” button. It took me randomly stumbling on it to figure how to use the keyboard shortcuts. Awesome job guys!
