OneDrive is the one place for everything in your life. It gives you free online storage for all your personal files, so you can access them from your Mac and any other devices you use – iPhone, iPad, PC, Windows Phone or Android. With OneDrive for Business, you also get storage for your work files so you can share and collaborate on them with other people at your work or school/university. The OneDrive app for Mac makes it easy to work with your OneDrive files on your Mac:
•Access your OneDrive files directly from the Finder, including attachments that you’ve saved to OneDrive from Outlook.com, and documents and spreadsheets that you’ve created from Office Online.
•Work with your OneDrive files even when you’re offline. Your changes will sync automatically the next time you’re online.
•Choose the folders in your OneDrive that you want to sync on your Mac.
•Add several files or folders to OneDrive at a time by dragging them to the OneDrive folder. By putting your files in OneDrive, you can access them from anywhere and have a backup in case something happens to your computer.
•Easily open, edit and create docs and other files in OneDrive from applications such as Word or Excel.

Best Cloud Avaliable! (17.3.6725.0105)

I use icloud, creative cloud, google drive, and onedrive all for different purposes, but onedrive is by far the best. When it comes to reliablilty, speed and not worriying about it deleting files or overwriting the wrong one, onedrive is the best. Use it on every device I own, even my watch ;)

After MS hosed this update several versions ago for OS X 10.9, I got it to work again by completely wiping the old version, including the One Drive folder. After doing so, I re-installed version 0105 of the program, and it’s finally working again.

i basically use it as long term cloud storage. not as good as the chinese have it with 3TB for baidu, but in the US i don’t thik there are any alternatives. If there’s a better cheaper product that allows me to use MS word, lemme know. Other than it being slower than dropbox in syncing, onedrive is great. i use it everyday
It works for me... (17.3.6725.0105)

The App works well for me, the only problem is that at my new job I cannot synchronize my files when I am in the office, so I have wait to connect my PC at home where there are no filters. Appart from that it is great, and this issue is not due to the software, it is because the security rules at work.

Getting very frustrated at the lack of the developers ability to fix this app. For a few months it would just do nothing. Now it gives me an error about the folder name and that I need to change it to not contain spaces at the beginning or end and not contain certain characters. My folder name does not contain anything they mention. The app worked great a few versions previous to the last two updates and now is worthless. On the flipside I can access some files using Word or Excel. Frustrated for months!

Still a few wrinkles to iron out (17.3.6725.0105)

I am mostly happy with OneDrive, and for that reason I give it four stars.
However, there are still a few wrinkes to iron out.
First of all, OneDrive has more restrictive rules for files names than MacOS does. Unfortunately, files with symbols in their names will simply not sync. If removing the restrictions in OneDrive is not possible, at least some kind of tool to help re-name the files would be helpful. (One seems to discover the problem when syncing a large number of files.)
Second, it has a very short limit for the total length of path names. Again, it may be that since OneDrive is designed for Windows, it may be that the limit is meant to match a similar limit in Windows. (If that is so, a simple tool to help shorten paths would be appreciated.) What is particularly annoying about this limit is that a long path does not simply provoke an error in syncing; it forces OneDrive to close. That needs to be fixed.
Finally, it would be nice to be able to re-name the folder. My OneDrive for Business folder has a very awkward name. (In particular, it has a lot of spaces, which sometimes causes trouble.)
Works great. No problem. (17.3.6725.0105)

I migrated from the Window PC to MacOS. I put all my files in OneDrive before switching to MacOS. Now I have been using the OneDrive on the Mac for 3 months. So far so good. Didn’t crash or anything. Upload/download is transparent and fast. Liking it so far.
Cannot open the OneDrive website through the app !!?? (17.3.6725.0105)

I appreciate the hard work that you’re doing to improve this app and the other apps also, but sometimes we cannot understand how you miss an important option like explore the online cloud through the app?
This option was existing in the previous versions but now what?
In my case, I’ve chose a selected folders to sync but how to explore the remaining folders?
And Please, can’t you add an option to pause the sync just like the all other apps or just like THIS APP on PC?
I’ld like to thank you again but it seems you’re more interested with your PC apps than MAC.

I love OneDrive. I think you get the most for your money with this cloud service. But my account won’t update files from my MacBook Pro. It works perfectly on ALL my other devices, except my Mac. All the files on the account are listed as “ineligible”, and Apple has been unable to help me. The Mac App Store version needs an update.

I get to the point where OneDrive asks me to choose a folder, and that's it. Whether I provide an existing folder, or click with the defaults (i.e. HomeDir/OneDrive - Company), OneDrive will tell me that it is unable to create the folder…
I guess testing is very low in the priority for the development of this application. Clearly I will trust it with all my files.

OneDrive seems to have taken a hint from the Dropbox app for OS X: since the update I have stopped having the issue of the app hanging up and freezing; I love the fact that it shows the files that are being synched; and any errors that come up due to mis-named files etc. are finally visible.

This just doesn’t work! I had it working for a short time. But now it will not load at all. Continually indicates it is starting, but does not fully start. Even for the VERY brief time it did actually function (it stopped working even when nothing on the Mac had changed), it lacked even the most basic configurability. This could well be the worst Mac storage utility ever.

I opened a ticket with Microsoft. They confirmed that OneDrive is not working. They collected log files from me. I haven’t heard from them in over a week. I would recommend waiting until Microsoft releases another version before wasting any time with this app. Because on a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.12.1, it simply does not work.

Current version locked up, the Preferences option is gone so I can’t fix what looks like a credentials issue, or whatever is wrong. I can’t unlink the account to reinstall it or anything, it’s just stuck with all of the options grayed out. Says everything is synched up, but it’s not synching anything. I wish I knew how to put the old version back. Will have to stop by my help desk tomorrow at work. Total disaster.

I recently purchased a Surface Pro to help me with note-taking in class, but I also wanted to keep my MacBook Air because I felt more comfortable with the user interface. Not sure why there are so many one star reviews, but this program is working well in terms of compatibility and ease of use. I highly recommend this to anyone who has updated their Mac’s software and would like to sync files quickly and easily between two or more devices. My photos and documents are now backed up, and the best part is that One Drive is free versus Dropbox, which I was highly committed to before. The unlimited storage, quick set-up, and compatibility really make this a great app.

Problems like, especially when you are trying to back up to this product:
- messages with “there are problems storing your files”, file and folder names collisions.

Update Borked the App (17.3.6725.0105)

I used to love this app and use it for all my syncing needs between my PC and Mac. Unfortunately, this most recent update broke the software form me. Like others here, the software opens but the cloud icon in the top right of the screen is unresponsive and no files sync. Please fix this Microsoft or supply the old working version in the meantime. This is a very non-ideal time for me to not have this working. I am using OSx 10.9.5 (Mavericks) if this is helpful.
Update that was supposed to fix the issue has not.

Continually have issues with OneDrive on my Mac. Would be great to actually be able to easily access the most recent versions of my files when I’m not near my computer, but given the ridiculous love-hate relationship between Apple and Microsoft, I guess that’s too much to ask for. Just get it together already and fix the problem so consumers like myself don’t have to go around the world to keep OneDrive up to date.

Latest version fixes bug on OSX 10.9.5 (17.3.6725.0105)
1/20/2017 8:24:00 AM
4/5 By DLW15
Update: The latest Version 17.3.6725 (0105) corrected the bug that prevented recent OneDrive versions from running on OSX 10.9. It now updates and runs properly; however, the customer support in dealing with this problem was less than stellar. Microsoft eventually got it right, but some of the support emails that I received seemed to be clueless.
The real lesson here is that for those who were “out of commission” or couldn’t get “an old version [to] install,” you should be using Time Machine or some other backup system. It was a simple matter to unistall the bad version and re-install an older version that would work and keep you in business until Microsoft fixed the problem, which took way too long, in my opinion. For those of you who were trying the buggy version for the first time and didn’t have an older version, there was always iCloud or Dropbox.
Update: DO NOT INSTALL THIS UPDATE IF YOU ARE RUNNING OSX 10.9.5. (Not sure about later software.) Have been trading emails with OneDrive Support team (providing symptoms, log files, etc.) but no solution yet. Easiest solution for now is to go back to earlier version as follows:
1) Delete current version of OneDrive by dragging to the Trash or by using an app remover such as AppCleaner.
2) Enter Time Machine and go back to a time before the update. Select OneDrive and click Restore.
3) Close Time Machine and open OneDrive. App will guide you through configuring file location on your iMac (although the files will still be there in Finder). Once configured, OneDrive will synch and you’ll be back in business.
The App Store on my iMac (early 2008 running OS 10.9) indicated that there was a update for One Drive. After updating several times, the current version still does not work. I get the same symptons a syrferdet.

I’m not on OS X 10.9, and the recent update caused this application to be completely non-functional. It used to work just fine, and now it just says “1 problem with your OneDrive” and gives no way to quit the application, identify what that problem is, or anything. It simply doesn’t sync anymore.
