Comments and Ratings for Keynote

Please bring back Keynote 5 features! (6.2)
6/8/2014 11:59:00 PM 1/5 By nvwfe
I have to keep using Keynote 5 because too many features are missing in the new version. I especially need to be able to hyperlink to other Keynote programs since sometimes I need to show a presentations of different sizes. And, there are so many other problems. Please fix the compatibility issues so I can move onto the new version!

Great Application! New powerful tech for cutting-edge presentations. Microsoft PowerPoint has got another competitor. Very nice and worth downloading. Keynote App gets Five Stars. ✭✭✭✭✭ -D.G.

Is Not Letting Me export my presentations with audio. It also doesn’t let me record my slides without crashing every time I try to record it and is not cool please fix this.

Stay far away from the latest build of Keynote (6.2)
6/1/2014 11:44:00 AM 1/5 By Hellopants
If you want to stay productive, then stick with the prior build of Keynote. The latest version strips out so many features and functions from the previous build that it is almost a different product altogether. Simple things like copy and pasting an object repeatedly no longer copies and pastes the object neatly aligned and spaced apart as the last version did. Now it just pastes it in some random location. Before, you could hold the shift key down to drag an object vertically or horizontally. Now holding the shift key makes the object bounce in random directions, or perfectly drag diagonally which I never do(do you do this all the time? I think we drag objects horizontally and vertically far more often than diagonally). Every function that used to be simple is now a laborious task of digging through menus or guessing where things have been relocated or renamed. This used to be, in my opinion, one of the best tools for wireframing and prototyping. I know it was not built for this, but it served this purpose exceedingly well. Perhaps Apple caught wind of this and decided to eliminate all features that facilitated this, to bring it back to being a “dumb” slideshow player. I am almost certain now that I will be moving back to the warm and loving embrace of Powerpoint where I came from.

I want my old Keynote! (6.2)
5/29/2014 5:30:00 AM 2/5 By mkhud
The biggest problem here is the Inspector. The old one was nice, compact and functional. Now it’s all blocky, with unused space, and you need to go to the menu to switch between document, fonts, transitions, etc. Yuck. Way more work. And where’s my beloved “convergence” animation?! Adding new animations/transitions is fine, but don’t jettison the old ones!

Don’t upgrade (6.2)
5/25/2014 12:34:00 AM 1/5 By logicforever
I have been a Keynote user from the beginning, and Keynote 6 is absolutely brain dead. In the past, Keynote was very powerful, yet extraordinarily easy to use. Everything worked exactly as you imagined it should. Keynote 6 is not nearly as powerful (they promise to add more of the features that they left out, but why did they release it before it matched 5?), and everything — I repeat, everything — is harder to do. I could give endless examples of absolutely stupid, counterintuitive behavior, but I don’t have the time to waste. This all comes from trying to merge the MacOS version of Keynote with the iOS version. But rather than try to improve the iOS version until it matched the MacOS version, Apple chose to mimic the weaker version by disabling the more powerful, intutive version. Really stupid.

alpha (6.2)
5/24/2014 1:16:00 AM 1/5 By aamato
Still no alpha channel movie import !! That’s essential for high quality movie slides!

If at all possible, trash 6.2 and go back t. 5.3 (6.2)
5/19/2014 6:44:00 AM 1/5 By aapple1945
6.2 is unusable for many things. More difficult to do automatic advance slide shows. Does not show where missing fonts are used nor allow you to substitute fonts. See other reviews about usability. Wish I could turn off updates in App Store! I had to physically delete this so I could use 5.3 again. I would rate it higher if I had never used Powerpoint nor version 5.3, probably.

Syncing is Bad. More Templates needed (6.2)
5/18/2014 1:33:00 AM 3/5 By profto
I am a hospital physician who makes a lot of presentations and I almost always use keynote. It works great! My only complaint is that the number of available templates are very limited….I have gone through them all. Can you please make more templates? I am always being asked to pick which presentation to keep because, “the presentations are not in sync.” Apple please fix the syncing with iCloud because it really irritating ...

Wish everyone had it (6.2)
5/14/2014 6:04:00 PM 5/5 By BarrMed
I work in a Windows dominated environment that is limited to Powerpoint. When I use Keynote to give presentations, people love it and ask if I can share the presentation with them and usually, the Windows Powerpoint version is a disaster. A huge advantage of Keynote is that it handles media (like movies and video) so much better than Powerpoint, which media will choke and crash. My only complaint is that Keynote files do not convert and play that well in Powerpoint, but I guess this could be stated about Windows in general being second rate to Mac OS X (I have to use both and really dislike Windows).
